Description: Benchmarks are used for monitoring subsidence, using various measuring techniques like Levelling, GPS and InSAR. In this layer, benchmarks are grouped in Underground benchmarks, permanently installed GPS stations, Campaign GPS benchmarks, Levelling benchmarks. This data is stored in a database table and is a.o. used by SuRe software. “(SuRe estimates land subsidence from the difference between observed and geodynamically predicted spatial height differences. It screens the input for measurement errors, point misidentification and disturbance and for abnormal vertical displacement rates and takes appropriate action to minimise quality loss on the final solution. SuRe subsequently computes the initial height of the each benchmark, its displacement with respect to surface to be monitored and subsidence of this surface at the benchmark location. Finally the parameters of the variance model are re-tuned to the patterns of residuals.
